Business Administration (Online) Overview

As of 8.1.23, applications and new enrollment for the 23-24 academic year to the Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration program have been paused. All currently enrolled students will progress through the program to completion. Students interested in this program should explore our on-campus business majors.

Our Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration is a fully-online program designed to provide a general foundation of business knowledge that can be applied to almost any industry. Courses are available in seven-week formats, and students can transfer up to 90 credits previously earned from an accredited two- or four-year college or university or earn credits for prior learning. Courses are taught by passionate and dedicated faculty, many of whom are also practitioners.

Information Systems & Operations
This course explores basic concepts of communication networks (e.g., the Internet), hardware, software, databases, and systems. Students apply information systems to decision making, communication, collaboration, and coordination in the operations of contemporary organizations. Students gain skills in word processing, presentation software, data visualization, spreadsheets, and relational databases.

Strategy & Entrepreneurial Ventures
This course illustrates the strategic management framework by taking students through the entrepreneurial process from start-up growth while exploring personal and professional challenges. The student examines key issues in opportunity recognition, financing models, strategic choices, and courses of competitive advantage at different stages of the firm’s development.

Business Law & Business Ethics
This course introduces students to the concepts of business law including employment law, social and environmental responsibility of corporations, and international business law. It also emphasizes frameworks for conducting ethical analysis and the analysis of ethical dilemmas.

Applicants must:

  • Complete the online application
  • Submit proof of high school diploma or GED with a GPA of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale.
  • Submit a copy of official transcripts of all regionally accredited colleges or universities previously attended.  Students may receive transfer credits for courses in which they received a letter grade of "C" or better.
  • High school transcripts are not required for those who have completed at least 24 college credits.

Center for Women’s Entrepreneurship (CWE)

The Center for Women's Entrepreneurship connects students with area business leaders and promotes events on campus, such as the Think Big Forum, a series of panel discussions focusing on strategic business growth, entrepreneurship, leadership, and sustainability.

Women's Leadership Certificate

The certificate in Women's Leadership offered by the Women's Institute at Chatham University is a multi-disciplinary program designed to equip students with the theory, skills, and practice of leadership. Students earning a certificate will be prepared to take on leadership roles in their chosen fields and beyond, from business, politics, science, and the arts to healthcare, education, non-profits, NGO’s, and more.

Department Mission

The Department of Business & Data Science teaches students the fundamentals of business practice through learning and applying academic content, practicing business skills, and evaluating the context of business decision-making. The Department integrates material and programming incorporating the University’s mission in global understanding and environmental responsibility and prepares students to work as leaders in professional and civic arenas.
